Well who says that you have to go away to have a good time when you have some time off work. Not me thats for sure 😀 I luckily had a week off and decided to do some exploring around the beautiful area we live in. Luckily the weather was very kind and made this possible!
These pictures are taken around the Vale of Glamorgan or in Devon (hometown!). I hope you enjoy 😀
I have got carried away thinking about major decisions like masters and getting a car xD so please excuse my radio silence. However, rather excitingly I finally got around to getting a camera 😀 I have been thinking about it for months and I am supper happy I talked myself into getting it.
In the spirit of getting it I decided to take a stroll around Cosmeston Lakes, which is only down the road from me on a nice sunny day to try it out. I thought i’d show you the results 🙂
Yesterday I set off for an adventure around the Vale of Glamorgan and it was so refreshing. I picked up some leaflets at the Penarth Pavilion about walks around the Vale, called the Vale trail (loving that name doe!) 😀 So from the wealth of choices I decided on one which was easy to get to with public transport (should really get a car one of these days).
It was Vale trail 3 starting at Llantwit Major. I could not have picked a better day for it, I got all them summer vibes. Here are some pictures from my adventure:
I just want to encourage people to get out there and see this beautiful world, recharge them batteries and connect to the earth for a wee while 🙂 I can guarantee you will feel better for it. Despite the fact this walk had a ridiculously muddy section and I nearly fell ass over tit, its still all part of the fun!
So getting straight into it, I firstly wanted to chat about the pill. Why I am on it, whats good about it, whats bad about it and how it affects me.
When I was growing up I had a hard time with my periods, they are brutal! I remember being sick in the school car park, feeling so faint, and being sent home on a few occasions just because of how my period affected me. So I was put on the pill from about 15 (roughtly) to try and control my damn crazy body.
Did it help?
Simply, yes! I no longer dreaded that time of the month and I felt in control of my body again 🙂 happy days! As a bonus, when I got older and began to explore my sexuality I was already covered on the pregnancy front.
Any side effects?
Luckily for me I didn’t see any of the bad side effects I was told about such as weight gain. On the other hand, I didn’t see the side effect I was kinda hoping for at the time which was larger breasts (damnnn itttt!! 😉 better luck next time) !
Further down the line
I am now 23 and I am still on the pill, although I have changed from the one I was originally prescribed. It works well for me and my lifestyle which is great news 🙂
I had this thought, about creating a section dedicated to chatting about things which I haven’t seen geting spoken about much on peoples blogs. I’m thinking periods, mental health, coping strategies, and anything else!
I aim to get quite personal in this section and you are welcome to comment and share your experiences. I hope this helps!
I have noticed recently that my skincare routine must be working for my skin as I’m having fewer breakouts and it’s looking much healthier. This makes me very happy indeed as I’ve been struggling with this for quite a while now :). Athough it’s not perfect I feel I’ve got a good base, so why not share it! Sharing is caring you know 😛
When I wake up, the first thing I like to do is cleanse my face and get rid of any bed grime (wow that sounds gross, but you know what I mean). To do this I put on Body Shop’s Camomile cleansing butter, it’s so lovely, like words can’t even! It’s got a buttery oily kinda thing going on and just glides on, removes impurities and is good for sensitive skin. Win! Then I spray on La Roche-posey Serozinc and wait for that to dry. This product is for oily acne prone skin, which mine can be. I purchased this moisturiser a little while back and I’m actually very pleased with it! It’s got a good thickness to it for the winter months when my skin is dryer, smells divine and leaves my skin feeling great 🙂 and this is Origins Make a difference. After that I throw on Origins GinZing eye cream which does a fair job and doesn’t irritate my eyes. Then that’s me set to put on my make up! Which on a day to day basis takes like 5 mins and I’ve got a separate blog post about that 🙂 Also if I remember I go for a quick spray of the MV organics Rose hydrating mist before I shoot out through door.
Once my feet land on my mat and I’m home, normally the first thing I want to do is remove my make up (providing I’m not ravenous). I do 13 hour shifts though so I know this isn’t the same for everyone. Anyway, when that time in the evening comes when you want to remove your face and chill on the sofa in your comfies, this is my routine. I start with the classic Garner micellar water to remove the majority of my make up then I go back in with Body Shop’s Camomile cleansing butter just to make sure I got it all off. I also use an exfoliating brush just lightly, it also feels lush! I like having a clean face for bed 😛 I normally follow this with my favourite toner Pixi glow tonic on a cotton pad. I then use the Serozinc again and the Origins make a difference moisturiser, the eye cream, and a spritz of MV Organics Rose Hydrating Mist. Then that’s me done 🙂 happy days! I can now chill and read for a bit or watch a bit of tv 🙂
I hope you found this helpful if you are looking for some new products to try. Let me know if you liked it 🙂
Now 2017 is fully underway and 2016 is behind us (which seems to be a relief for the rest world in general) I thought it was a great chance to reminisce about what has made 2016 a great year personally. For me this past year has actually been pretty damn great, obviously it hasn’t all been rainbows and kittens but as a whole its been unforgettable and here is why.
Three years after I arrived in Dundee, I finally came out the other end with a BSc in Forensic anthropology. This was defiantly not an easy task and once I slept for 5 hours over the course of like 3 days or something ridiculous. I could only have done this if it was an area I found truly fascinating and with the support of my family and friends (such as the beautiful lady in the picture). Although I am still deciding how to venture further, this has been one of my finest accomplishments.
2. Went on many travelling adventures.
This year I got my travel on and visited Berlin, Talmine (Scotland), and Morocco. All these places where very different and I loved every second of them.
Berlin was so full of history and we managed to pack so much in the few days we were there. Think maps, planning and a crazy step counts. The sausage and beer were top notch :D. Also me and my travel buddy tried our hand at swing dancing after being coaxed with a glass of wine beforehand. It was quite the experience, don’t think I am quite the natural though unfortunately!
Talmine was my first ever trip with just me and my boyfriend (Chris) and it was a trip which changed our relationship I think, as we realised we actually had a heck of a lot in common. Before that I often had my head nestled in a pile of papers, and was drowning in Uni work. Although we didn’t go abroad, we hired a little car and escaped for a while and it was kinda perfect.
Then, Morocco happened! Me and my travel buddy decided to go down the air bnb route for our stay in Marrakesh and Essaouira. We wouldn’t have done it any differently, it was the perfect way to see the cities. The people we stayed with were the most gracious hosts and made us feel like we had a proper home while we stayed there, hats off to you ladies! Now Marrakesh was a hive of activity, just so many people! People who drove down the most narrow streets on a scooter and gave no shits. It was all apart of the charm though. However, it was the markets and palaces that made it for me, simply stunning. Moving onto Essaouira, it was a haven, like so chilled and full of brilliant people and food.
3. I moved in with my boyfriend.
Although all didn’t go smoothly and we didn’t see each other for a long time before we actually moved in together, it all worked out in the end :). Our flat is now our little cosy place and we are very happy here. We even have squirrels outside that have there own names (Jeff and Toby if you are interested).
4. I have learnt a lot about myself.
All of these experiences have led me to discover a lot about myself and although I am no way near done deciding what I really want to do, I have made a good choice taking a step back and having a time out to decide.
That it, 2016 folks! Now, how to make 2017 even better… hmm. hehe! Comment what your best moment of 2016 was 🙂 Also I am thinking of doing a more in depth travel post about the individual places i’ve been, what I saw, little tricks if people are interested?
So this is the first year I decided to send all Christmas cards to everyone dear to me, no matter how far or how long it’s been since I’ve seen them. I really wanted a project to keep me busy so I though I’d craft my own cards, and I am so glad I did 🙂 after a trip of two to hobby craft and some online purchases I was ready to go!
Here are the designs I ended up with, some turned out better then others but as a first try I thought it wasn’t half bad! It’s the thought that counts anyway, so I hope everyone who gets one gets a wee smile on their beautiful faces because if that’s not what Christmas is about then what is! 😛
So you know those days when you watch one too many Youtube videos, read one too many chapters in a book or blogs and its like oh dear… I have 5 mins to put my face on! Well this is my go-to products for these occasions. I hope you will find helpful 🙂
No.7 Essentially Natural Foundation
I have this in the shade cool vanilla as I do get quite pale and it matches my skin tone really well. It is great for providing the perfect amount of coverage that is not at all heavy, so it feels like your skin is still breathing (which is always nice). Yet it still evens out my skin colour, any redness I might have is gone and lightly covers any blemishes.
I use the Light (1) shade under my eyes as I unfortunately suffer with quite dark under eye circles. I then use the medium (2) shade for any blemishes that my foundation didn’t quite cover such as around the nose and any spots. Its great stuff, honestly it stays in place and covers anything really well. The only thing is I normally put it on the back of my hand then on where I need it, or on an application sponge rather then use the dabber it comes with. I just think bacteria would be spread around my face else, which is not a nice thought O.o.
This little blush has been worth its weight in gold, it is more of a summer/spring shade but I can still rock it out on a colder day, just more lightly to gave a youthful glow to my cheeks 🙂 It also smells amazing and I am in love with the different shades running through it, bits of gold and pink. Simply beautiful.
Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara – Medium Brown
This is great for this kind of day when you don’t have much time, power always seems to be something that takes a little bit of time for me when it comes to eyebrows. So when I am in a rush I skip that step and go straight for this, which is super easy to use and sets the hairs in the right direction. I also got a slightly darker shade then my natural eyebrow to make them actually look like they exist 😀 I have very blonde eyebrows and it would look like I didn’t have any at all else 😛
Now this little beauty has been my go-to mascara ever since I discovered it, maybe 1 and a half years ago now. It very very rarely clumps on me and separates my lash’s really well. It doesn’t add a great deal of length but as mine are pretty long anyway thats not an area I need. http://www.boots.com/en/No7-Lash-Impact-Mascara-7ml_1459318/
As you can see I put all the links where I spoke about them, so you can check them out if you are interested 🙂 If you have any questions please ask 🙂 Also let me know your routine, I’ve had this one for a little while now and i’m looking to try a couple new things 😀
