Winter skincare routine 2017!

Hey lovelies!

I have noticed recently that my skincare routine must be working for my skin as I’m having fewer breakouts and it’s looking much healthier. This makes me very happy indeed as I’ve been struggling with this for quite a while now :). Athough it’s not perfect I feel I’ve got a good base, so why not share it! Sharing is caring you know 😛

Morning

When I wake up, the first thing I like to do is cleanse my face and get rid of any bed grime (wow that sounds gross, but you know what I mean). To do this I put on Body Shop’s Camomile cleansing butter, it’s so lovely, like words can’t even! It’s got a buttery oily kinda thing going on and just glides on, removes impurities and is good for sensitive skin. Win! Then I spray on La Roche-posey Serozinc and wait for that to dry. This product is for oily acne prone skin, which mine can be. I purchased this moisturiser a little while back and I’m actually very pleased with it! It’s got a good thickness to it for the winter months when my skin is dryer, smells divine and leaves my skin feeling great 🙂 and this is Origins Make a difference. After that I throw on Origins GinZing eye cream which does a fair job and doesn’t irritate my eyes. Then that’s me set to put on my make up! Which on a day to day basis takes like 5 mins and I’ve got a separate blog post about that 🙂 Also if I remember I go for a quick spray of the MV organics Rose hydrating mist before I shoot out through door.

Evening

Once my feet land on my mat and I’m home, normally the first thing I want to do is remove my make up (providing I’m not ravenous). I do 13 hour shifts though so I know this isn’t the same for everyone. Anyway, when that time in the evening comes when you want to remove your face and chill on the sofa in your comfies, this is my routine. I start with the classic Garner micellar water to remove the majority of my make up then I go back in with Body Shop’s Camomile cleansing butter just to make sure I got it all off. I also use an exfoliating brush just lightly, it also feels lush! I like having a clean face for bed 😛 I normally follow this with my favourite toner Pixi glow tonic on a cotton pad. I then use the Serozinc again and the Origins make a difference moisturiser,  the eye cream, and a spritz of MV Organics Rose Hydrating Mist. Then that’s me done 🙂 happy days! I can now chill and read for a bit or watch a bit of tv 🙂

I hope you found this helpful if you are looking for some new products to try. Let me know if you liked it 🙂

Why 2016 Was Great!

Hey Lovelies,

Now 2017 is fully underway and 2016 is behind us (which seems to be a relief for the rest world in general) I thought it was a great chance to reminisce about what has made 2016 a great year personally. For me this past year has actually been pretty damn great, obviously it hasn’t all been rainbows and kittens but as a whole its been unforgettable and here is why.

  1. I graduated!

Three years after I arrived in Dundee, I finally came out the other end with a BSc in Forensic anthropology. This was defiantly not an easy task and once I slept for 5 hours over  the course of like 3 days or something ridiculous. I could only have done this if it was an area I found truly fascinating and with the support of my family and friends (such as the beautiful lady in the picture). Although I am still deciding how to venture further, this has been one of my finest accomplishments.

The joy is real.

2. Went on many travelling adventures.

This year I got my travel on and visited Berlin, Talmine (Scotland), and Morocco. All these places where very different and I loved every second of them.

Berlin was so full of history and we managed to pack so much in the few days we were there. Think maps, planning and a crazy step counts. The sausage and beer were top notch :D. Also me and my travel buddy tried our hand at swing dancing after being coaxed with a glass of wine beforehand. It was quite the experience, don’t think I am quite the natural though unfortunately!

Obligatory Berlin wall pic 😀

Talmine was my first ever trip with just me and my boyfriend (Chris) and it was a trip which changed our relationship I think, as we realised we actually had a heck of a lot in common. Before that I often had my head nestled in a pile of papers, and was drowning in Uni work. Although we didn’t go abroad, we hired a little car and escaped for a while and it was kinda perfect.

img_1210
We climbed that shit.

Then, Morocco happened! Me and my travel buddy decided to go down the air bnb route for our stay in Marrakesh and Essaouira. We wouldn’t have done it any differently, it was the perfect way to see the cities. The people we stayed with were the most gracious hosts and made us feel like we had a proper home while we stayed there, hats off to you ladies! Now Marrakesh was a hive of activity, just so many people! People who drove down the most narrow streets on a scooter and gave no shits. It was all apart of the charm though. However, it was the markets and palaces that made it for me, simply stunning. Moving onto Essaouira, it was a haven, like so chilled and full of brilliant people and food.

We burnt so badly that day. Damn African sun.

3. I moved in with my boyfriend.

Although all didn’t go smoothly and we didn’t see each other for a long time before we actually moved in together, it all worked out in the end :). Our flat is now our little cosy place and we are very happy here. We even have squirrels outside that have there own names (Jeff and Toby if you are interested).

4. I have learnt a lot about myself.

All of these experiences have led me to discover a lot about myself and although I am no way near done deciding what I really want to do, I have made a good choice taking a step back and having a time out to decide.

That it, 2016 folks! Now, how to make 2017 even better… hmm. hehe! Comment what your best moment of 2016 was 🙂 Also I am thinking of doing a more in depth travel post about the individual places i’ve been, what I saw, little tricks if people are interested?

Hugs,

Christmas card crafting

Hello lovelies!

So this is the first year I decided to send all Christmas cards to everyone dear to me, no matter how far or how long it’s been since I’ve seen them. I really wanted a project to keep me busy so I though I’d craft my own cards, and I am so glad I did 🙂 after a trip of two to hobby craft and some online purchases I was ready to go!

Here are the designs I ended up with, some turned out better then others but as a first try I thought it wasn’t half bad! It’s the thought that counts anyway, so I hope everyone who gets one gets a wee smile on their beautiful faces because if that’s not what Christmas is about then what is! 😛

My 5 Minute Face

Hey you!

So you know those days when you watch one too many Youtube videos, read one too many chapters in a book or blogs and its like oh dear… I have 5 mins to put my face on! Well this is my go-to products for these occasions. I hope you will find helpful 🙂

  • No.7 Essentially Natural Foundation Screen Shot 2016-10-20 at 17.30.29.png

I have this in the shade cool vanilla as I do get quite pale and it matches my skin tone really well. It is great for providing the perfect amount of coverage that is not at all heavy, so it feels like your skin is still breathing (which is always nice). Yet it still evens out my skin colour, any redness I might have is gone and lightly covers any blemishes.

  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – Shade 1 & 2

Screen Shot 2016-10-20 at 17.29.43.png

I use the Light (1) shade under my eyes as I unfortunately suffer with quite dark under eye circles. I then use the medium (2) shade for any blemishes that my foundation didn’t quite cover such as around the nose and any spots. Its great stuff, honestly it stays in place and covers anything really well. The only thing is I normally put it on the back of my hand then on where I need it, or on an application sponge rather then use the dabber it comes with. I just think bacteria would be spread around my face else, which is not a nice thought O.o.

  • Rimmel Powder – 004 SandstormScreen Shot 2016-10-20 at 17.31.09.png

This powder is always one I go back to, it keeps me from going too shiny throughout my day and doesn’t look too cakey or anything 😀 happy days! Plus the best bit is that its like £4 or something 😀

  • Bourjois Blush – 34 Rose D’or

Screen Shot 2016-10-20 at 17.31.45.pngThis little blush has been worth its weight in gold, it is more of a summer/spring shade but I can still rock it out on a colder day, just more lightly to gave a youthful glow to my cheeks 🙂 It also smells amazing and I am in love with the different shades running through it, bits of gold and pink. Simply beautiful.

  • Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara – Medium BrownScreen Shot 2016-10-20 at 17.35.08.png

This is great for this kind of day when you don’t have much time, power always seems to be something that takes a little bit of time for me when it comes to eyebrows. So when I am in a rush I skip that step and go straight for this, which is super easy to use and sets the hairs in the right direction. I also got a slightly darker shade then my natural eyebrow to make them actually look like they exist 😀 I have very blonde eyebrows and it would look like I didn’t have any at all else 😛

  • No.7 Lash Impact Mascara- Black

Screen Shot 2016-10-20 at 17.34.55.pngNow this little beauty has been my go-to mascara ever since I discovered it, maybe 1 and a half years ago now. It very very rarely clumps on me and separates my lash’s really well. It doesn’t add a great deal of length but as mine are pretty long anyway thats not an area I need.

Thanks for reading!

Book List

Well hello there strangers 😀

I have been a busy little bee getting a new flat, new job and well moving in with a boy! Lots of new things which I might do a little post about at a later date 🙂 For now, as we head into autumn when the weather calls for sweaters and boots (one of my favourite time of year! so buzzed!) it becomes a great time of the year to start nesting on the sofa of an evening and reading with a cup of tea… of course :3. I thought i’d let you into what books i’m planning to read and if you have any other suggestions please let me know.

  • Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn – Now I know I am a little late on the uptake for this one but i’m currently 1\3rd of the way through and its getting really interesting now. I haven’t seen the film yet and always love reading a book before seeing how they develop it for the big screens.
  • The Girl On The Train, Paula Hawkins – I recently picked this up from a charity event and thought it would be a good read before watching the film as well as giving money to a good cause. Sneaky shout out to a special place called Little Bridge House in Fremington, Devon that provides essential help for children and there families, what a truly enchanting place. From what I have gathered its slightly dark and mysterious, which sounds right up my alley just now and i’m super excited to start reading it.
  • Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, J.K. Rowling – Now I think it’s a bit criminal that I haven’t read this series before but I endeavour to do so and it is on my list 🙂
  • The Discworld Graphic Novels, The Colour of Magic & The Light Fantastic, Terry Pratchett – Now this is a bit of a different one from the rest, but graphic novels are full of amazing artwork as well as a fantastic storyline. This was gifted to me for my birthday by the before-mentioned boy I now live with 😛 I am open minded and look forward to settling down with this 🙂

I can do a quick update once I have powered through this list on what I thought of them if thats something that would interest everyone 🙂

Thats all for now and I look forward to my next post!

Sneaky Update

Hey there!

So I got a wee bit caught up with my final year at university and have neglected my little space on the internet, which is rather sad!

But I have finished (BIG WOOP!) and will soon be a graduate (even bigger WWOOOOPPP!). So now I can get things back on track *insert excited face*.

I will be posting what I got up to in-between the stress and terror that was fourth year, then I plan to get something up each week once i’m all caught up, I hope you are as excited as I am 😀 😀

Preparing for Autumn haul :3

Bonjour!

So with what remains of our ‘summer’ slowly disappearing I thought I’d head to the shops and get a few things to get me ready for the new season! Autumn happens to be one of my favourite times of the year, when everything begins to feel that little bit more cosy. I’m talking turtle necks, cosy sweaters, boots and hot chocolates 😀

What time of year is your favourite ?

This is also signalling the start of a new academic year which gives me the fear as I’m going into my final year of my bachelors degree ! Megaeck!! Wish me luck 😉 I’m sure there are many of you feeling the same about school or college… We can do this !! 😛

Hope the sun shines on our last days of freedom !

My Summer Plans :D

Hello beautiful people !

So as a little procrastination (only one more exam though, woo ! :D), i found myself looking through pictures of last summer and it got my thinking … what kind of things i’d like to achieve by the end of this up and coming summer 🙂 I already have a couple ridiculously exciting things planned, such as my eldest brother’s wedding and words can’t express the level of excitement i have for that! I can just see it’s going to be the most beautiful day and i will undoubtably be a sobbing mess in the corner 😀 I’m also off to Cyprus for a whole dayum month !

Aside from the big stuff, i thought it would be nice to have a few ideas of what i’d like to get up to in the mean time. These are things that i adore doing but rarely get the chance, and i want to dedicate this summer t myself, finding me and being a happy with who i am 🙂 so these are my ideas:

  1. Read as often as i can. Ideally i’d like to get through 1 book every 2 weeks because there are just so many people in this world writing amazing books and i need to get involved ! The the first on my list is Looking for Alaska by John Green (the genius behind A Fault In Our Stars, if you have been in a cave for the a very very long time 😉 ).
  2. Painting. I am part way through one, but that might have to stay up at university so i would like to create one at home that would tie in with my room when i have redecorated. I find painting so relaxing, then at the end you can step back and be like yup that was me, i did that! then hang it proudly girl 😀
  3. Keep up with my yoga :3 This is something i’ve been doing for the past 2 years or so, i mean i am no expert and sometimes it can be a while between my time on the mat, but it is so rewarding ! Yoga with Adriene is absolutely amazing and i am currently on day 9 of her 30 days of yoga, go check out her channel on YouTube if you haven’t already honestly you’ll thank me 🙂
  4. Go on lovely long walks with the family and of course the woofer ! Getting out for some fresh air and exploring the beautiful countryside is one of my favourite things, just ever!
  5. Heading to the County shows. This involves lots of cheese tasting, cider drinking and looking at various bred’s of cattle and sheep! I always have the most amazing time, be it with friends or family.

I hope this has inspired you to think about what you would like to achieve this summer, and feel free to comment with your ideas on how to make this the best summer yet 😀

Finding the perfect Boyfriend jeans and Girls night in <3

Afternoon Ya’ll!

I managed to find my prefect boyfriend jeans that i have been desperately trying to find for quite a while now! Happy days (Is it sad how genuinely happy that makes me :D) they got rem rips and everything !

Aside from that joy, me and my roomie/bestie decided we needed a girls night in after all the stress of exams and work, and we had the best time ❤ Seriously, if you are in the need of some TLC grab a friend, some face masks, a good film (we choose The Fault In Our Stars, which had us in a sobbing mess), cookie baking and some wine and that is all the cure you need ! We attempted to make Tanya Burrs cookie recipe (link here: http://www.tanyaburr.co.uk/?blog=blogs/archive/2015/05/02/my.chocolate.cookie.recipe.aspx) but unfortunately our baking skills are something to be desired and they turned out just mushy chocolates messes but they tasted amazing!!

I hope you are having a good Bank holiday weekend lovelies 😀
